Vision

In 2002 I embarked on a haiku-a-day exchange with my sister through the mail for a year. It was a return to writing for me after a twenty year hiatus, and one that would bear surprising fruit. Although at the time it was just a personal exchange between my sister and me, the work eventually found outlets in haiku journals, online, and in books and educational presentations at conferences on haiku and haiga.

This piece, tossed together quickly to make a daily deadline, is one that has been published in many formats in the years since its first journey as a postcard.

Moonlight

It is a reminder that our work is never really our own. It finds its audience beyond our original vision and context, as others see themselves within our vision, or hear themselves within our voice.

Enjoy!
