Solstice

Many early cultures honored and worshipped the sun as the life giving source of all creation.

Throughout the year there are auspicious dates connected to the alignments of our planetary orbit around the sun. Many archeological sites remain today that testify that earlier civilizations tracked these alignments in the landscape. This knowledge helped plot the return of longer days, the height of growing seasons, and the peak of the energy influx from the sun.

The energies of the land are fully awake on the summer solstice, and the veil between realms is thinnest. The heightened Chi excites all that it touches into resonance with its presence.

.

Like a song made present with our breath, grand notes well up and resonate, compelling us into sublime manifestation, the realization of many voices in Love and Light.

Composed of my voice, throat singing, and drumming, “Solstice” honors these holy days with song.

The image above is of the summer solstice at Calanais on the Isle of Lewis, in northern Scotland. For more about our time there in 2003 please see my post by that name on this site, and you may hear a reading of it on my CD “Readings” from Snow on Water on my SoundCloud channel linked there. Enjoy!
