Where we once learned Latin and Greek we now learn to read and write code. For those who love words, language, and books, technology is a mixed blessing. I love paper, and the book as an art form. However, in the medium of video I have found a captivating vehicle to engage contemporary audiences with poetry. The combination of imagery and music beyond the poems themselves has an immediate connectivity for audiences weaned on television and the web.

From the Poetry playlist, “Letters”, while presented as a reading, is visually composed of letter forms and codes that speak to those who love language. Its imagery includes references to Biochemistry and DNA, Ogham, Sanskrit, Cherokee, Sacred Geometry, Q’abala, Hebrew, Music notation, and Sigils. Written at a typewriter as a stream of consciousness, it was first published with typographical errors deliberately intact. The existential run-on sentence, in combination with the archaic manuscript visuals and the hypnotic sounds of rolling tides tease us into eternity.
