Photography

Although as a designer I have always created the signature image of a project, or composed pictures that complete its look, only recently have I began to think of myself as a photographer.

I do occasionally go to lengths to get a shot. I have carried a ten foot ladder a mile through the mountain woods to get an image inside trees. And I’ve sometimes waited outside in the cold for hours for the sun to arrive at the ideal place, or laid in mud, waiting for the light to cross a stone into perfection. I have found myself wading out on floating logs fifty feet into a pond, standing in swamps, or snowshoeing on ice in craggy mountain gorges. Although I’ve been greeted by eagles on a mountain peak, it seems that the truest image is about the journey there and is always unexpected.

This work involves capturing energies on film. The particular camera is not so important, but the images always are. The gifts revealed in this work have been profound and I am assured in what comes forward that all is right in my world.

Gaia reaches out to us, sometimes through the lens.
