Snow on AltarPhoto by Katherine Henry

Kogo kizoku– awakening to the high, returning to the low.

-A reference to the falling snow and the constancy of Grace;

-to the Devotee falling, struggling to reach the altar, then to keep the faith;

-to the Sinner, fallen, penitent, and forgiven, falling again;

-to the wedding altar; falling into love, and choosing True Love over all others.

•Written as a memento for a shaman friend visiting a mountain altar on snowshoes. Immediately after his song-blessings there fell a magnificent whiteout snow only over us. ––An affirmation, following us home, then made complete with sun beaming in blue skies all around, burning into a golden dusk as we stepped off of the mountain.
